There are all sorts of useful tools on bootable devices, which give you some control over your computer when the operating system stops working. Unfortunately, you will need a different storage device for each of these tools, unless you turn to XBoot. This lightweight utility is capable of creating bootable discs and USB flash drives with more than one tool. You can have recovery and antivirus tools, Linux distributions and other special utilities one a single bootable device.

The software is free and you can have it up and running in no time, on any modern Windows platform. It comes as a single executable, which you can download and run straight away. There are no special requirements you have to meet and you don't need powerful hardware.

If you have your tools ready, as ISO images, you only need to drag and drop the files over XBoot's user interface and click a button. The application will create a new ISO file, with all the selected tools. Additionally, XBoot will offer to burn the ISO on a disc. When you are done, you can reboot your computer and run any of those tools from the same storage device.

You can test your new bootable media on the same user interface, on a different tab. All you have to do is drag it and drop it over the window. Its menu system will show up on a separate window, on which you can run the included tools and see how everything works. It is also possible to edit Syslinux and Grub4dos menu files and perform other operations, on another tab.

With XBoot, you can prepare for any disaster on your computer, with a single bootable device.

Pros

You can create bootable storage devices with several utilities. The application provides a few useful customization options. Also, it lets you test your bootable media, on the same interface.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention.
